Take the Red Pill…Again…again…again
In the 1999 movie, The Matrix, the main character Neo is offered the choice between a red pill and a blue pill by rebel leader Morpheus. Morpheus says, "You take the blue pill... the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill... you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." The red pill represents an uncertain future, unknown to Neo at the time he takes the red pill —it would free him from the enslaving control of the machine-generated dream world and allow him to escape into the real world, but living the "truth of reality" is harsher and more difficult. On the other hand, the blue pill represents a beautiful prison—it would lead him back to ignorance, living in confined comfort without want or fear within the simulated reality of the Matrix. Neo chooses the red pill and joins the rebellion. [Wikipedia]
Scripturally, the same paragraph might be phrased this way – The red pill is a “change” requiring believers to turn away from the world and toward God. It is the change in life that follows from seeing things in a better, truer light. There is another, higher way to live available to everyone. But to move upward, people must make changes in their lives to incorporate more light and truth. By living a higher way, they are repenting. This process is not a single event. It does not happen once. It should happen over and over as all increase the light in their lives. [Glossary – Repentance]
In scripture, metaphorically, the red pill represents spiritual ascent. The blue – Babylon.
Dr. Nephi gives this prescription in 2 Nephi 13:4 – Take one Red Pill daily. He puts it this way—And now my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this straight and narrow path, I would ask if all is done. Behold, I say unto you, nay, for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ, with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save. Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. Or in other words, take one Red Pill daily.
In real life if you do not take the Red Pill daily, by default, you take the Blue and become drowsy and begin to fall back asleep.
Take the damned pill.
